As a pianist, Scott specializes in blues, funk and R&B styles, with jazz, classical and music theater influences. He also has an extensive history as an improvisationalist, especially during his tenure as music director and accompanist for Brave New Workshop. Given his improv experience, he has worked as an accompanist for Stevie Ray’s Improv Theater and Actor’s Theatre “Bye Bye Liver/Finnegan’s Wake”. He has also worked as an accompanist for Joseph Scrimshaw in his Fringe Festival show “The Tragedy of You”, Comedy Suitcase Productions’ “Smothers Brothers Grimm” and Fearless Comedy Productions’ “Vaudevilification Tennis”.
He was featured on keyboard and banjo for Plymouth Playhouse’s “Ring of Fire”, and performed keyboard and guitar for Flying Foot Forum’s “Alice in Wonderland” (created and directed by Joe Cvala). Scott was also featured on keyboards in Cromulent Shakespeare Company’s 2008 production of “Titus Andronicus”.
As a keyboardist, Scott has performed for a number of Twin Cities groups, stretching a wide range of styles, from experimental electronica (Zurround) to Irish/folk (Lojo Russo & Funks Grove) to soul/funk/R&B (The Midnight Mo Experience). He has also worked as a soloist for weddings and corporate events.
