As a guitarist, Scott specializes in solo guitar, especially in American and Celtic folks styles (fingerpicking and flat-picking), as well as jazz and classical. He has written a number of original works for solo acoustic guitar, and frequently performs at special events and weddings. Scott has studied guitar at the University of MN (Minneapolis), and Amala School of Romany Music and Culture (Valjevo, Serbia). As a soloist, he has opened up for Pat Donohue, and has performed at Chateau St. Croix, The Minnesota Centennial Showboat, St. Croix Vineyards, Weisman Art Museum and Bedlam Theatre. He currently plays guitar for Orkestar Bez Ime, an award-winning ensemble which specializes in Balkan and Eastern music. He also is a guitarist for Americana/Celtic rock band The Sweet Colleens.
He also teaches guitar at Chanson Academy in St. Paul. He is now in preparation for an album of his solo guitar work, which should be ready by Fall 2018.
He has also performed as a guitarist for a number of Twin Cities ensembles, including: Cats Laughing (rock/folk), Pirates of Dreamtime (ambient/electronica), Old Soul (acoustic R&B), and The Dregs (Irish/comedy).
Scott also specializes in slide guitar, electric guitar and Amistar steel-body guitar (dobro). He was a contributing performer on slide for Natalie Nowytski’s album “Amerikana”, alongside Jim Parker (Mother Banjo), Adam Kiesling (Pert Near Sandstone) and Peter Ostroushko.
